For decades, the Filter'Tron pickup has produced a coveted tones used by greats Chet Atkins, George Harrison, Neil Young, Steven Stills, Malcom Young, Pete Townshend, Brian Setzer and more.
Introducing, the Lamber'Tron.
Come to find out, the available materials to "reproduce" a Filter'Tron-style pickups aren't anywhere near the same spec as the vintage pickups a lot of the artists above used. In fact, most Trons on the market today are using cheaper and standardized full-size humbucker materials, which has a massive impact on the overall sound quality that Filter'Trons are so well known for.
So we made them ourselves! Custom cast magnets to vintage-correct sizing (but with our secret recipe of AlNiCo), custom injection mold bobbins, two different custom nickel-silver baseplates (to compensate for the multitude of mounting options), and more.
The production of this pickup is not easy, by FAR the most expensive, and I am so very proud of all of the work gone into producing a sound that tips it hat to the magic tones from the vintage Filter'Trons mixed with our Lambertones charm.versatility, dynamic range, and clarity.
The Lamber'Tron pickups provide three distinct and usable sounds. Digging in gets you that classic snarly gain you expect from Filter'Tron pickups, but if you release you end up with a polite bridge tone, and a cleaner middle position (notorious for usually being muddy). The neck is full and crispy at the same time, ready to attack or round out the lower mid frequencies of your mix.
Guitar players appreciate the Lamber'Trons ability to maintain definition and separation of notes, even with effects like reverb and delay. The pickups offer a bright, clear sound reminiscent of single coils but with pronounced mid-range teetering into the fullness of full-sized humbuckers. Overall, the Lamber'Trons are balanced tone and responsive to many different playing styles.
